The Vintage Modern Wife: Happies and Crappies Link Up

- I completed boot camp! I DID IT!!! I did not miss one class! I think I may have been the only one!

- I lost a total of 3.5 inches.
Arms- Down .5 inch
Chest- Down 1 inch
Waist- Down .5 inch
Hips- Down 1 inch
Leg- Down .5 inch

- My birthday weekend was great. I will probably post about it when life gets a bit less hectic. I took a zumba class. Went shopping for some new work out clothes, dinner and breakfast at my favorite place the next day.

- My parents got me a Home Depot gift card so we can do some home renovations. I also got some great earrings. Brian got me another month of boot camp! I'm so excited.

- We got a juicer! I'm loving juicing but hating the clean up!!!

- My phone broke. BOO! Verizon did replace it but I lost all of my photos.

- Work is just INSANE! Plus, I'm kind of jealous that it seems like everyone has a 3 or 4 day weekend. Not me!

- Between work and the 4:45 wake up call I am so tired all the time. I haven't stayed up passed 8:30 this entire week.

What are your happies and crappies this week?

Happy Easter! Enjoy your weekend.

Hello friends. I have been such a busy little bee. I can't wait to post more about it too. This week has been nothing short of hectic. Between the stress of work, taking on a second job, bootcamp and a pulled groin I am wiped. Yes, I am asleep by 9pm every nightThe good news is it almost sort of feels like Spring. Well, its better than 30 degrees, right?!?! With Easter right around the corner and temps near 50 I am so ready.

Happies and Crappies

Yay, it's Friday!!!

- My BIRTHDAY is tomorrow. I have not idea what is planned but I have decided to take the entire weekend to celebrate and have fun. Starting tonight with my parents tonight. YAY!

- It's SPRING. Ballet flats, capri pants, pretty colors, bare legs here we come...

- I've completed 9 out of 12 classes with 3 left. I'm the one of three girls who have made it to every class! The threat of push ups and burpees are enough to make me get up so early.

- I'm feeling so strong! I feel muscle for the first time in forever. I'm seeing improvements too. I have been able to do 25 push ups with out stopping. I

- My Old Navy order showed up last night. FINALLY!

- I also scored a pair of Jessica Simpson jeans. I LOVE the fit of her clothes. They always seem to look and feel good on my body. I also love the $29 price tag!

-Did I mention my birthday?!?!?

- Poor Brian came home from a work event with food poisoning. He was so sick last night. I was afraid we would end up in the ER. He was so dehydrated. Thankfully he is doing better this morning. I hate seeing him so sick.

- I'm having major muscle pain. It pretty much hurts everywhere. I'm battling a problem with my wrist which makes a lot of push ups and planks really difficult.

- It's spring to bad its freezing! Icky!

What are your happies and your crappies this week?

Throwback Thursday-Opening Day

So spring is officially underway and I'm ready for all the great things that come with it. Especially baseball. As a girl who grew up in the Bronx I'm a Yankee pinstripe kinda gal! As a kid we went to tons of games. My husband and I love to go to games. We celebrate his birthday with a Yankee game every year.

One of my most favorite days, EVER, was attending the Yankee ticker tape parade back in 2009. We woke up at 4am and drove to Hoboken NJ and took the ferry down to NYC. We froze! It was so cold and I remember being so hungry.

The day was going great until we got back to our cars. We took 2 cars and parked next to one another on the streets of Hoboken. Problem was it was permit only. OOPS! We got ticketed AND booted! Yep, $800 and removing the boot, later we were finally able leave!

What a mess! Still it was one of the best days!

Just Because- Spring Where Are You?

Spring starts in just 2 days.

You would never have guessed by my commute home last night and what I saw when I woke up to this morning. It looks like 7 inches or so. I can't say it enough but thank goodness for my Jeep. The commute home last night was horrific. So many accidents and cars spinning out of control.

It's like the winter that just won't end! I really can't wait for capris, sandals, pastels and temps about 42 degrees! Last year at this time I remember the temps around 70 degrees. I think I was spoiled but I've had just about enough.

Mr. Groundhog.... You're FIRED!

Not Borken, Just Bent

It hasn't been the easiest of days since last week.

Physically I'm feeling good. I've pushed myself and haven't missed any boot camp classes.

Mentally I'm feeling a little beaten up.

I tend to do that to myself.

I'm surprisingly doing better than I expected.

I think the idea is to keep busy!

When I stop doing things I start thinking,

which leads to over thinking,

which leads to tons of negative thoughts about myself.

Just have to keep telling myself I'm not broken and everything will be fine.

I've been listening to this a lot over the weekend.

I think I just really like the lyric, "‎"It's been written in the scars on our hearts
We're not broken just bent"

Things Have Got to Get Better

I wasn't feeling very good on Monday. I woke up at 4:30. Went to boot camp and carried on with my day. In the late afternoon I starting getting some real nasty pains in my back and stomach but I pushed through. I attributed it to my monthly visitor that was a few days late. My period has been very different since my ectopic over the summer. I pushed myself because my best friend had a baby and I was leaving work early to see them. At about 2 pm I felt like my insides had fallen out. It was awful. The pain not so bad but aftermath was rough. It happened 4 other times that hour. I ruined my clothing. My heart sank because I had a similar feeling to this around the time of my ectopic. I kind of had a feeling I knew what was going on and tried to ignore it. The next day the doctor informed me his conclusion from tests was that I had an early, 4 week miscarriage. Not really much to say about it. I guess this happens to more women who never even realize. Since my ectopic I've been on a high alert when anything seems wrong. I almost wish I didn't go to the doctor because I really wish I didn't have to hear those words.

I'm fine.
I guess.
I feel like a failure. I feel like there is something wrong with me.
I feel like my body has once again failed me.
I guess I'm just a champ at losing babies.

This pretty much says it all.

Just Because- You Shouldn't Be A Jerk

There are some things I have wanted to share here for a while but I've been unable to for numerous reasons. One of those reasons is because there are little people out there who read this blog and not because they enjoy it but to act as little spies. Now, you are probably already thinking "She's just paranoid' and I wish I was be but it has happened before. People have admitted it.

However, there is something going on in my life for a while that I really would like to share. I need the support of kind readers while I've been bullied in my life. I need a caring environment where people would not judge me.

For years there has been a few people who have really hurt me. For many reasons we both were not innocent. They have said horrible things about myself, my family and my husband. They have made me hurt. Up until recently I even gave up. I said I was done fighting for myself and standing up for myself. I was hurt, very hurt. Then just a few weeks ago I was reminded that Karma really does work in mysterious ways. Yes, the b*tch inside me has worn a slight smirk since. I realized that what you give out in this world you get back. You really shouldn't be a jerk because will rear it ugly head right towards you. I was always taught to treat people they way you want to be treated. Just don't be a a jerk! It really isn't worth it. This isn't high school and we shouldn't act mean girls. Don't treat people poorly. It will only come back to haunt you in the end.

Have a great day!

Boot Camp- Day 3 AND 4

Boot camp Day 3

Thanks to a pretty large March blizzard our boot camp on Friday was rescheduled to Saturday morning at 5am. It was tough to see 4:45am on a Saturday. That hasn't happened in a very long time and I was usually getting home at that time and not getting up.

Morning 3 work out consisted of:

- Arm circles

- Jumping jacks

- Calf lifts
2x each

2x around the circuit

- Downward dog push ups

- Plank/ 10 pound weight

- Squat, leg lift, shoulder press with resistance

- Sliding leg stretches

- Knee lift taps

- Sliding mountain climbers

- Spiderman push ups

- Partner push ups with high fives

We finished up with abs and planks.

My favorite part of the day was going home for coffee and getting back to the gym by 8:30 to get a good hour of Zumba in. I'm starting to feel good. I need to get my food intake under control. I didn't realize how much hungrier I would feel. I have to make sure I pick up a lot more fruits and vegetables than I did last week. I really want to check my measurements too. I just can't wait to see some results!

Boot Camp- Day 4

Today, UGH, I'd like to call today boot camp with cramps.  It was not fun. On top of the time change. It certainly felt like 3:45 today!
We changed things up a bit.
We skipped stations and stayed stationary.

We did a few sets of each
3 minutes of cardio- Burpees, Jumping squats, High knees, Jumping twists (Not sure of the correct name but we basically jumped and twisted our hips and legs in opposite directions)

2 minutes weight training- Several different types of jumping squats.

2 minutes of abs- Crunches, scissor kicks, and bicycle crunches.

To say I'm hurting is a tremendous understatement! However, I can not wait to get the day started. My best friend is having a baby today. I can not wait to meet little Jayden! Sending lots of loving to my best girl and her family this morning. Good luck Lindsey, Terrance and big sister, Danika. Love you all.

Happies and Crappies

The Vintage Modern Wife: Happies and Crappies Link Up

- Having 2 days off this past week. Made the week fly by! I'm still thinking today is Tuesday. BONUS!

- Matchbox 20 concert was ridiculous! They put on such a fun show. Two hours of constant good music. Lots of their old stuff I really love! Plus, we ate out at Cuban Pete's. I've heard amazing things about this place for years and now I know why. The food was amazing! Lots of authentic options. I went with crispy shredded beef, black beans and plantains. It was a great time with my mom and my husband!

- I am surprised but I'm really loving bootcamp. It's really difficult and I'm really sore but I love the way it makes me feel. I love all the women in class and my instructor. They are all so amazing. It is such a great and empowering environment! I've never felt better doing planks, push ups and jumping rope!!!

- I made some really great spring purchases and I can't wait for the warm weather to break them out of the closet.

- I'm now a member of the North East Blogger's Network. Check out the link on my sidebar. I'm looking forward to being part of a network and meeting some new bloggers!

- Looking outside my window today to find THIS. Come on its March 8th!!! I'll a little worried to even drive to work in this. We are expecting 8-12 inches but tomorrow 50 degrees.

-Bootcamp was rescheduled for tomorrow morning due to weather.

- I'm getting used to waking up at 4:45 in the morning so even on days I don't have bootcamp I'm up way to early but I did get a lot done this morning. Wiped down Brian's car, made him breakfast and lunch, washed dishes. So I guess I do feel a bit accomplished today and its not even 8am.

Happy Friday everyone!!!

Throwback Thursday- St. Patrick's Day

I've been off for the past few days. Yesterday we cancelled our plans due to the snow that never actually came. I was stuck in the house with no plans so I skimmed through some old pictures. These bright and out of control behavior of years gone by reminded me that I once was fun.

How cute is this little face?
Couldn't believe that some of these had gone back almost 8 years. I have to share them with my very pregnant best friend who appears in almost all of these. She has been my partner in crime for many years. I'm sure

I also like looking at them because they remind me of home much weight I've lost since these were taken.

Happy Thursday!

Boot Camp- Day 2

Day 2 complete!

Today was a rough one. After the Matchbox 20 concert last night I only got about 4 hours of sleep before boot camp wake up call. I also wanted to push myself pretty hard considering I indulged on some delicious Cuban food last night. I am still very sore from the class on Monday but I pushed through.

This time our instructor, Sam, created 8 stations, 2 minutes each as opposed to Monday, 7 stations, 1 minute each.

Workout consisted of the following exercises.
- Walking Plank with a walking woman
- Alternating front kicks with alternating punches
- Burpies
- Alternating front lunges
- Lunge into a shoulder press with resistance bands
- Jumping squats into a push up
- Side squats with weights
- Jump ropes

After al the stations we completed the class with an ab workout.
I followed up the class with a Balance Protein Bar and a green monster and took the dog out for a nice walk before the snow hits.

I was really hungry and extra thirsty after my class on Monday. I'm trying to eat something every 3 hours to keep the metabolism moving. I'm really pleased that I'm enjoying it so much. I usually hate the gym and running. Boot camp is kicking my but and it feels great.
