My Birthday Wish List

I may have mentioned that my birthday happens to be at the end of March. I've mentioned before I never really ask for anything for my birthday or any holiday. I always like to create a little wish list. It's kind of a dream wish list although this year is a bit different. My husband asked a while back if I'd like a FitBit after he bought them for his parent's for Christmas. I asked him to hold off until my birthday. So I'm still hoping he remembers that conversation and I get one for my birthday.

Here is my little birthday wish list.

birthday

- Truth be told I already bought myself a teal handbag with a gift card I got for Christmas. I'm absolutely in love with it.

- I am in desperate need of a mani and pedi!

- I'd love a pair or strappy sandals for the summer. These are just too cute.

- Everyone is having a Keep Collective party on FB these days. They are super cute but just like all the Alex and Ani bracelets I never wear I should really avoid any more!

- Sunglasses. I have a pair that I adore. I got them at Marshalls years ago for only $10 and surprisingly they have held up so well. I am in need of back up pair.

Project Nursery

Baby G Nursery

Baby G Nursery by kj2380 featuring a neck cushion

Here us a bit of our nursery inspiration. Since we are Team Neutral I have a feeling the nursery will not be fully finished until after Baby G makes his or her arrival early January.

I have fallen in love with the elephant mobile from Pottery Barn and have been basing most of my ideas for the nursery around that and some of Pottery Barn's sheet pattern. I have the chevron on my registry but I also have a really cool geometric pattern on there as well. To bad Polyvore did not have that one to chose from.

I'm crushing on some prints I've been scoping out on Etsy. The 2 above are a couple of my favorites. There are so many that are so cute. I'm also planning on adding a few cute pictures of big bro Bogart for wall decor too.

So far we are sticking with gray as a base color. Once baby arrives I will be adding navy and either yellow for a boy and coral for a girl. I love the coral and navy but I'm on the fence about choosing a pink and navy if we have a girl. There is just so much more to choose from if we went with pink. I'm hoping to add some color and fun with a cool hamper. Home Goods has some really fun ones and I've been combing some of my favorite stores for a fun lamp.

This isn't our crib but it is very similar. We bought a crib with the changing table attached and are refinishing a dresser I've had for several years. I'm crushing on the glider I added to our registry from Buy Buy Baby. This may be my big splurge item!

1st Trimester Must Haves...

My first trimester wasn't that bad. It wasn't great but I know it could have been much worse. I am well into my 2nd trimester now. The ickiness of the last 3 months has subsided and I feel fantastic, most of the time. Since this is the first time I made it through a the first 3 months this was so scary. I remember calling my best friends who are both mommies with questions every other day. I wanted to share some of the things that really worked for me.

1st Trimester

Water Bottle- I opted for one with a straw. I tend to drink more out of a straw and bottles with out. It is important to stay hydrated especially if you aren't eating or able to keep food down. I didn't have this problem often but I craved ice cold water. The colder the better for me.

Foot Soak- I didn't start having foot pain until later on in my first trimester. I think it was a combination of the heat and long days on my feet. I found some relief in foot soaks. I tried a bunch of different ones. I enjoyed using epsom salt and peppermint the best.

Nike Comfort Sandals- These babies have been amazing on my feet. They are a bit to sporty for work but I wear them every where else. The comfort soles have pampered my super sore feet.

Club Soda- I was always a diet soda freak. I have given up all artificial sugar since I found out I was pregnant. I still like the carbonation and the bubbles helped out with any queasiness I was feeling.

Sports bra- Before my pregnancy these bad boys were big but let me tell ya they are ridiculous! My back and shoulders have been KILLING me. During the day I wear a regular bra but by the time I get home at night my shoulders have cuts in them from the straps. OUCH! The minute I get in the door I change into my sports bra. I love the light weight ones from Target.

Granola- I love Nature's Valley and granola bars have been such an easy snack that I take with me wherever I go. I have one in my bag, a few in my desk. They help me keep something in my stomach in between meals.

Metamucil- Ugh, one of the most uncomfortable things about the first trimester is, well, you know digestion changes. Constipation is just another sexy side effect. TMI? Sorry! This stuff, 3 times a day will help a little bit. My doctor made sure he warned me it only gets worse....GREAT!

Belly Band- Can I just say I LOVE THIS THING?!?! The belly band has made it so easy to continue wearing a lot of my shorts and jeans. Maternity clothes are expensive. Since I'll be pregnant through the summer, fall and winter months I'm trying to hold off on buying any summer maternity clothes. It was well worth the $15 I spent on it at Target.

Tums- Hello heartburn. I went with the smoothie flavors as a suggestion from my mommy friends.

Everyone and every pregnancy is so different. I am no expert just sharing some of the things that helped me through the hardest parts of my first trimester. Hope this comes in handy to some of you as well.

Autumn Favorites- Friday Fancy

This week for my Friday Fancies the idea was to celebrate everything that is wonderful about fall. So obviously something pumpkin would show up. I had some self control because originally I just would have chosen pumpkin EVERYTHING! Instead I went with all my favorite articles of clothing from this fall. Fashion staples for me were black leggings, brown riding boots, a few good sweaters and mixed in a bright handbag. There is something about this season that just makes me want to be cozy in everything I wear!

What are some of your fall favorites both clothing and dessert?
I can't wait for some pumpkin pie!

Friday Fancies and Some Friday Letters.

Happy Friday to you! This has been one of the shortest and longest weeks ever. Its been exhausting for certain. This weekend a good friend of mine is doing a collection for some of our fellow New Jersey-ians. I'm helping out a bit tomorrow.  Whenever I feel down I notice doing something for some one else makes me feel good. I'm excited that a good friend of mine will be staying with us this weekend. She has had a rough time lately. She cancelled her wedding, became ill, spent time in the hospital, moved into a new apartment and lost power all within 2 weeks. I'm glad we get to spend time together.

This week our Friday Fancy project was to put together a sweater weather style. This is my favorite time of year and my favorite time for fashion. I love the tones and the neutral colors. This House of Frasier sweater is amazing. Probably not practical in my real life but the patters are adorable. I purchased a similar sweater from Hopes and I can't wait to wear it. I also love this adorable Isabella Oliver wrap belt. I'd love to get my hands on one!

This outfit makes me want to head out to an apple orchard and listen to a band while drinking some wine and taking in the sounds, smells and sights that fall has to offer.

Dear Marie and Lori: You guys are so awesome! I am so pleased to call you both friends. I think your collections will help out so many!

My Friday Fancies- Bonfire Fun

This week my Friday Fancy is bonfire attire. I LOVE me some bonfires. Sadly, we didn't get to any. Maybe because a hurricane two weeks ago and 4+ inches of snow this week. Yep, Mother Nature hates us! We love to do summer bonfires but fall bonfires are the best. The crisp  chill of the fall air. Just trying to find outfits to put together made me want to do a bonfire weekend. I may just suck it up and bundle up to have one this weekend. I can't stand being cold so I go all out with layers, boots, hats, blankets (gloves and heavy socks, I didn't post) and coffee. Coffee could also double as a few seasonal beers.

I love the mustard, browns and navy combination this fall.  Do you like fall bonfires? What are your favorite color combinations this season?

I'm off to do some Christmas shopping today! I can't wait. I may be doing a little shopping for myself today too!!

Have a fantastic weekend.

Friday Fancies- 200

Friday Fancies- 200

This week we are celebrating something super special. Today we are celebrating 100 weeks of Friday Fancies. Our task this week was to pull together a fantastic party outfit! Nothing says a fancy party for like a little black dress. I actually couldn't pick a favorite so I picked two. I wanted to make the simple black dress pop with a pair of Kendra Scott earring and Stella and Dot bracelet. In my dreams I'd be able to wear amazing pair of Guiseppe Zanotti heals. In the real world I'd tower over my 5'8 husband and I would probably trip and break an ankle.

What is your ideal party outfit!!

Hope on over and congratulate Allison on a 100 weeks of Friday Fancies.

It's a Peacock Halloween

Peacock Halloween

With Halloween on the horizon this week's challenge to post your potential Halloween costume! I wish I was cool enough to have plans this year BUT I don't! I'm probably just gonna hand out some candy to kids and dog biscuits to the puppies! However, if I were super cool this would be what I would want to be. I would totally create a peacock costume. I love the colors. Its a bit funky but not trashy.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Enjoy.

Friday Fancies-Leaves

Happy Friday! Seems to me like Friday took forever to get here this week. Its been long and exhausting! I cant wait to get through today and start the weekend off. We are ridiculously busy starting tonight with my sister in law's birthday party. Tomorrow we are going to a wedding. Although my friend had canceled her wedding my coworker shared the same wedding. She had two cancelations and re-invited us. I don't get much fun time with my coworkers so I super excited!

I'm trying a little something new this week. I'm linking up with Allison from Long Distance Loving for Friday Fancies. This week we had the task of crafting an outfit centered around fall leaves. The foliage is in full swing around here. I sat out on our back deck staring at our woods while creating this outfit. I saw lots of mustard yellows, burgundy wine, a lot of greens, golds, browns and I added a bit of navy to the mix.
