Week of Love- Our Love Story

The past few weeks I have read so many beautiful love stories. Sometimes we get so tied up with the everyday that we don't take time to realize how beautiful things can be. I don't always acknowledge how great Brian is. I don't always focus on the positive. Sometimes all I need is a little reminder. It's always nice to look back at some old posts to remind me of the moments that made me so happy

I thought I would share just a few of my favorite moment.

Memory Lane

The fall always makes me reminisce back to a time when Brian and I first met.  Now when Brian and I met all our dates revolved around fall activities, apple picking, pumpkin picking and craft festivals. Apple picking is by far our favorite. It has become a tradition. We go to the same orchard every year. We visit "Our Tree". Which is next to path leading to the pumpkin patch. Its relatively secluded and Brian swears on our first date it was the point where he said "everything seemed to click". Here are just a few pictures down memory lane.

Show Me Your Wedding Cake...

My wedding cake has been a little bit of a secret around here in blog land. With so many great options I seriously had NO IDEA which route to go. That was until I found "IT" on Pinterest, WHERE ELSE?!?!?

I wish I could credit this but it was uploaded by user and there is no origin.

How awesome is this? I absolutely fell head over heels for this cake! Our cake will be based on this cake. Most of you already know our first date and engagement took place in an apple orchard. If you haven't please check them out here and here.  We wanted to be sure we included some of the orchard into our wedding details. I don't know if all of our guests will understand where the idea comes from but I think thats part of the fun. I'm super excited to see what our friend and cake baker come up with.

Our cake baker Marie is still throwing idea together and we haven't chosen our flavors just yet. I'm steering more towards chocolate and raspberry. Marie will be making one wedding cake for display and a sheet cake to cut down our cost for the cake.

Linking up with Brit at The Magnolia Pair.

Fab Valentine's Challenge, 2 in 1

Valentine’s Day Challenge

Today's challenge, not really more like Tuesday's Challenge, Worst Date Ever and because I'm behind Wednesday's challenge too

I still shake my head when I think about this one.
I had just gotten out of a 1 year abusive relationship. As I was going through the healing process of the end of that type of relationship I decided to not date anyone . After about 6 months friend of mine thought it would be a good idea to set me up on a blind date. In the mean time I had been spending time with another guy I really kinda like so I did go in with a closed mind.

It was so memorable I can barely remember his name...Seriously!

We met at a Irish Restaurant and off the bat I thought he was a little older then I was. I think I was about 24. He def had a good 10-15 years on me. Initial thought, what was she thinking!?!?! There wasn't much chemistry and to be honest I went into the date on the defense. The best part of the date is when he took a call from his EX WIFE and 5 year old daughter. I mean really? Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with talking to your daughter at the table but then a 15 minute conversation with your ex wife? He could have very easily excused himself from the table. I thought the date couldn't get any worse but it did. He insulted my SHOES! Never, never, never make a crack at my shoes! That pretty much sealed the deal! I mean who insults their date the first time meeting some one?

As we left the restaurant I let him drive away first so I could go back in and have a drink at the bar by myself. Definitely the best part of that night!

What are some of your date horror stories?

Now on to Wednesday's challenge...
Valentine's Outfits
SInce Valentine's Day is on a Tuesday this year Brian and I will most likely do something fun the weekend before. We have a gift certificate to our favorite little Thai place so we will probably end up using that for a nice dinner. We have also been hiking a lot this winter...I mean its been in the 60s this week. So I'm hoping to do that or get to the gym together. Thanks to MyFitnessPal I have gotten serious about losing weight and keeping track of everything. We have been working out hard core together.

I'm thinking of actually wearing something cute but not to fancy out to dinner.
This is what I wore last year when we went to a winery and dinner for Valentine's Day.

You can't see the bottom but I have on blue skinny jeans and over the knee black boots.

This is what I'm planning on for this Valentine's Day.

V-Day Pretties

I just bought this shirt at Forever 21 and I LOVE it!
I have the wide leg, high waist jeans that are fantastic for my shape.
Just don't have those just mint shoes or a similiar clutch.
I can work on that.

Valentine Challenge.

I'm feeling like getting back to day to day things and getting this blog back to normal too. I've had this post, linking up with Neely, scheduled for some time. Nothing like a little love to make you feel comforted when your not feeling like yourself. Here goes!

Valentine’s Day Challenge

I don't even know if my favorite date was even really a date.

Brian promised me he would come and watch me play a softball double header on a Sunday morning at 8am. We had only been seeing one another for a fews weeks and I was pretty unsure he would show up that early on a Sunday morning. Around the 4th inning he hadn't shown up or called so I pretty disappointed. By the end of the game he had finally texted me telling me he had been lost and was so embarrassed. He drove around for over an hour. He got there in just the nick of time for the second game.

He sat at the game and cheered for me the whole time. Truthfully I was never all that good. I remember feeling so important that a guy would go out of his way to make me feel important. I had never really had that before or felt that type of feeling. I had always been negative about love and used that as a defense mechanism so I wouldn't get hurt. No expectations never led to any disappointments. Brian was different. Just by showing up at that game he changed my mind on love and expectations. From that moment on love seemed easier. He made it very easy to fall in love with him.

The day was made so much better when he FINALLY kissed me.

Although my favorite date didn't have any glitz, glamour or any thing fancy story of dinner and dancing it did have everything to do with the way Brian made me feel. Almost 4 years later and lots of dates under our belt that day is probably still one of my favorites.

First date

My soon to be husband and I met on line. I was very hesitant at the start. In my head I felt as if I were admitting failure by needing to go online to find a boyfriend. A dear friend of mine suggested I join after she had some success. I had been feeling down in the dumps after the boyfriend I had been dated had cheated. I was scared to get into another relationship with the fear I would use it as a rebound. I knew that would have been unhealthy for both of us but I caved to peer pressure and opened a profile.

Brian contacted me shortly after I opened up a profile. He was witty and sweet and that intrigued me. We emailed for a short time before exchanging phone numbers. He was easy to talk to. He made me feel very comfortable. He invited me out on our first date that night and I pretended to be super busy. He wanted to go apple picking with me. (I lived in the biggest town for apples in NY) I agreed! The morning of the date I had a softball game and tried to think of every excuse to cancel our date. In the end 2 teammates talked me into going. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain!

We spent our first date at the lovely Apple Wood Orchards  picking apples and pumpkins. If you are ever in upstate NY I highly suggest this spot in the fall. They have entertainment for children and adults, wild flower gardens, farmers market, wine tasting. (We have been going every October since our first date. This September something very special took place under an apple tree. Story to come later.) We didn't find many apples and there were no good pumpkins left. It was towards end of the season so the pickings were slim. It was fun. I felt comfortable enough to climb trees. We eventually took our 6 apples and made it out to a local Irish Pub for lunch. One of my best friends was bartending so I was kind of excited she got to scope him out. We finished off our marathon date with coffee and tea at a cafe. It was probably one of the most fun dates I've ever been on. He has a nack for making everyone laugh and I think I may have smiled from ear to ear the entire date. I was told after the date by Brian's mom that he couldn't stop talking about how fantastic it was that I wasn't shy and would climb trees on a first date.

What I find funny about our first date and every day since is we didn't follow any of the "rules" We laughed about inappropriate things, talked about our past yet none of it seemed to bother us. We laid everything out on the line. From the very begining of our relationship we never played any games. Unlike any other relationships I had ever been in I was able to tell him what I was feeling with out doubting the emotion or reason behind it. Brian has always made me comfortable in this relationship from the very first moment we met. He makes every tear and dating hardship in my past worth it.

I believe this is our first picture together. Not our first date. Maybe second?!?!
I was still a fatty but look how handsome he is!
Its Halloween, Pardon the purple scalp and hair highlights .
