LIFE, LOVE AND A SPLASH OF SOME GLAMOUR

Oh Sandy

Girl, you did us dirty!?!

Thanks for the emails and tweets the last few days. I'm very thankful to say our home, my parent's home and numerous friends and family are safe. We are very lucky. The worst of it is we lost a few trees. My in laws have massive tree damage. One tree narrowly missed their home and could have done much more damage to our family. They will be staying with us the next few weeks. B's cousin is currently stuck in her Hoboken apartment. She did not listen to the evacuation notice and is now stuck. We hope the water recedes and she can evacuate soon. I got back to work today and B will be going back tomorrow. His bank has power outages so he will be working in the dark. NJ has rescheduled Halloween for the second year in a row. My heart breaks for those who were not as lucky as we are.

Hoping my east coasters are doing as well as we are.

Life Lately

Woohoo, we still have power this morning so I'm happy I get the chance to blog this morning. I was expecting to wake up and not have any power. I called out of work today. I'm sure they will be upset with me but after waking up at 4am to my house shaking, trees down and siding hanging off my house I couldn't bring myself to drive over an hour through flood zones. Its scary out there. I hope my east coaster pals will be  cautious and as safe as possible. Luckily Brian's bank has closed. We are home safe together. Two lazy bums under the covers with the heat pumping. We have our emergency bags packed just in case and we know where the shelters are just in case. In addition to this "Frankenstorm" here are a few more things going on in our life lately:

- Yesterday marked 4 years since Brian asked me make it official. I like celebrating little days like this. With all the chaos the last few days I actually forgot what day it was. We have time to celebrate tonight.

- Speaking of celebrating. This was us 6 months ago today. How time flies!

(Thank goodness the weather was lot better that day)

- This weekend Brian and I had a day off to spend together. So what did we do? Brian, my mom and I  volunteered to work a Halloween party for the children I work with. Nothing like spending a day off at your job. Brian with one of the children. Brian ran the photo booth all day.

Be safe!
Enjoy your week!

This Week

This week is shaping up to be a not so good one. Its looking like a visitor named Sandy is headed this way. I can't deny the fact I'm pretty freaked out. Last hurricane that came this way caused a whole lotta damage and if Sandy is anything like Irene we are pretty screwed. It was last year that looked a lot like this.

From the mass hysteria it seems as if the entire east coast is expected to get spanked with high winds which means wide spread power outages. It seems as if this blog may also be out of commision for a while too. We have stocked up on goodies, freezer is full of ice, fridge and freezer on the highest setting, magazines, candles and flashlights. Hoping its more hype!

To all my east coast pals. Please be safe.

Friday Fancies- 200

Friday Fancies- 200

This week we are celebrating something super special. Today we are celebrating 100 weeks of Friday Fancies. Our task this week was to pull together a fantastic party outfit! Nothing says a fancy party for like a little black dress. I actually couldn't pick a favorite so I picked two. I wanted to make the simple black dress pop with a pair of Kendra Scott earring and Stella and Dot bracelet. In my dreams I'd be able to wear amazing pair of Guiseppe Zanotti heals. In the real world I'd tower over my 5'8 husband and I would probably trip and break an ankle.

What is your ideal party outfit!!

Hope on over and congratulate Allison on a 100 weeks of Friday Fancies.

It's OK

Yes, its Thursday!! Finally. This week officially sucks! I hate saying that but there really hasn't been a high note to this week although I have hope that today and tomorrow will get better.

Hoping your week is going great!

Its Ok Thursdays

- To feel sluggish with this insane weather.

- To watch horror movies and than not sleep at night because I've freaked myself out.

- To be pretty freaked out about Hurricane Sandy coming this way. We had so much damage last year at home and at work. It was a nightmare.

- To be obsessed with Zumba lately.

- To be discouraged with Weight Watchers. I only lost .4 last week and I was hoping for a larger number after working out like crazy and eating properly.

- That I'm in LOVE with the new Alicia Keys, Girl On Fire. Playing on repeat lately.

- To wish I was more excited about Halloween. Throwing 2 parties at work for the kids really should be more fun but I'm just not feeling it.

- To be super excited for my Hope's package to arrive. Along with my 2 giveaway goodies I won.

- That my mom and I have planned a Christmas shopping trip on November 9th. Its never to early to get that stuff finished.

- To be planning a Christmas Swap on the blog already!!!

So lets conquer this day!
Have a great one!

OHP

Happy Wednesday. Its such a dreary few days around here. All I really want to do is cuddle up on the couch with a coffee and a spooky movie! It doesn't help that work is just insane lately. Ever have any of those weeks where you feel as if  you aren't doing anything right?!?! Yep, thats my week. Thank goodness for downtime, Zumba and Pinterest.

Pinspired Style

After linking up for Pinspired Style last week I got so many awesome comments and compliments. It was a nice boost to my self esteem. I've been scouring Pinterest for some ideas for the link up this past week. There were 2 outfits that inspired me.

Sadly the original pin comes from a blog that has been deleted. Bummer, I'd love to see other outfits she had put together. I love this outfit and although I had all of these pieces I wouldn't have thought to put them together for a fun fall outfit.

Pardon the face. This was taken at 8pm after a 11 hour work day. I really need a tripod for the morning. I don't want to subject you to the tired look each week.I didn't accesororize as nicely as the original pin. To be honest I wore a fantastic bracelet that cut into my hand at the office all day so I took it off before the day was half over.
Details:
Peach skinnies- Target
Belt and shoes- NY and Co
White top- Target
Open caridgan- TJ Maxx

Wonderful Weekend

This weekend was just about the best weekend I've had in a very long time. The weather was amazing and we were non stop busy. Friday I attended a breast cancer fundraiser with my mom and mother in law. It was outdoor and a bit rainy. Thats my excuse for no visuals. Lame I know. Saturday we did a simple dinner with friends and Trader Joe's. Food shopping on a Saturday night. I know we are all sorts of party animals.

Sunday was bar far the best day of the week. Softball header started off the morning. We lost like usual but I finally had a hit. It was good for my self esteem. After we rushed to a local dog walk fundraiser at a state park. The colors of the leaves were absolutely amazing. Weekends like this one really do remind me how lucky I am to live in a place like this.

What kinds of things did you do this weekend?

Friday Letters

Dear Brian,
Today marks 4 years since our first date. Four years ago today you and I had an amazing date. Apple picking, dinner and coffee. I can remember how perfect it all seemed. Here we are now, all these years later. I love you just as much, if not more, than I did back then. I look forward to spending these rest of this wonderful life with you.

Dear Neighbors,
LEARN TO PARK! It really isn't very hard to park in a straight line! Your neighbor who never has a spot, ME, would love it if I could have a parking spot when I get home.

Dear Pink Friday,
I can't wait to celebrate with you tonight all in the name of charity.

Dear Zumba,
Thank you for making me like working out again. Thank you for making me feel sexy again!

Dear Softball girls,
Stop being so Regina George. No one acts like that after middle school. Get over yourselves and be nice. We are all on the same team!

Dear Yankee,
There is always next year :)

Dear Dental Hygienist,
Please go easy on me this morning. I have no tolerance for pain especially when it has to do with my teeth.

Dear Katy Perry,
I was never really a fan until I saw this.
(I dare you to watch and not tear up)

Dear Friends,
Have an amazing weekend.

It's a Peacock Halloween

Peacock Halloween

With Halloween on the horizon this week's challenge to post your potential Halloween costume! I wish I was cool enough to have plans this year BUT I don't! I'm probably just gonna hand out some candy to kids and dog biscuits to the puppies! However, if I were super cool this would be what I would want to be. I would totally create a peacock costume. I love the colors. Its a bit funky but not trashy.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Enjoy.

Its OK

It's Ok

Its Ok Thursdays

Hey friends. Happy Thursday!
- To not really want to play softball anymore. My team has been taken over by mean girls and I really can't stand their clique anymore. Plus, I do stink this season.

- To have loved every minute of the debates the other night. I do like a little confrontation as long as I'm not involved.

- To be disappointed with the Yankees offense. Ugh! But even more disappointed they didn't play last night. Rain out with out any rain. Double ugh!!

- To be slightly discouraged this week with Weight Watchers. I'm in a funk. I gained weight last week and I'm feeling really hungry this week. I have to get to Zumba twice this week. Maybe that will make me feel better.

- To like celebrating little milestones. Tomorrow is the anniversary of our first date. This is more special to me than our actual dating anniversary 10-28

- To be unimpressed  by the season premiere American Horror Story.... I'm not gonna give anything away but really?!?!

- To want to become Tory Burch when I grow up.

- To be ridiculously excited with my most recent purchase! Isn't it pretty?

What are you OK with these days?
Have a wonderful day!!
