My Life Lately

Well, honestly my life lately hasn't been overly eventful. I wish it were so I had some sort of excuse for my lack of blog posts. I guess my blog rut is still in full affect. My lack of creativity is still lingering. While my creativity still sucks here are the things going on around here;

- For the last month I have been trying to spend a lot less. I haven't bought a Starbuck's coffee in over 3 weeks. I'm also trying to avoid shopping and over spending. I tend to overspend and it's about time I grow up and budgeted better. We've reduced our cable bill by $20 a month. I'm looking forward to seeing the difference in the next few months.

- Getting back to the Starbucks thing. I have given up caffeine. Crazy, right?!?!? If you know me well that is barely believable. Not only have I given up coffee but diet soda too which means no more fake sugar either. The first week was awful! AWFUL!!! I had a headache for 7 days but after the first week I felt fine. I'm sticking to water!

- We are getting stuff done around this house. I finally put my foot down and wrote a "Sh*t We Need To Do" List. I'm hoping sh*t gets done. This list hangs on our fridge so we both have to look at it each day. We have only crossed one thing off our list. Slowly things will get done.

- We have also tried to do daily chores rather than waiting for the weekend to get everything done. I'm usually the cleaner around here so it's been nice getting a little help each night. I like coming home to a house that is neat and clean.

- My best friend is due to have her baby today. Although we don't think it's going to happen anytime soon. That baby is nice and comfy where he/she is. She has been home from work for the last month and we have been spending lots of time together before baby comes. Our husbands have been doing Insanity together so it gives us time together almost every night.

- It's finally feeling like summer around here. We broke out the first fire of the season and with fire come S'mores!

What has been going on in your life lately?

This Weekend I...

A day late....

This weekend I:

- I started off the weekend rather exciting by falling asleep while watching I Found The Dress on TLC. I'm still a sucker for a wedding show.

- I spent my entire weekend with this little cutie. My nephew just turned the big 4. He has so much stuff and his poor parents have no room in their house for another toy/truck/tool or car and he has more toys than anyone would know what to do with. Instead of buying him anything else we spent the entire weekend doing anything he wanted. We built forts, ate at his favorite places and eating his favorite foods. We also spent all of Sunday at the park.

- We also got quality time with my littlest nephew. He is such a sweetie and getting so big.

- After our nephews left this very tired lady took a nice long lap. After I woke up I enjoyed a bunch of Real Housewives of New Jersey episodes.

- Brian and I finally starting doing stuff that needed to be done around our home. It feels good to get rid of some stuff. I got rid of 2 more bags of clothes. Donated some and gave some more to friends.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. Can't wait till this coming weekend! Starting Thursday I'm off for 5 days. Hello Memorial Day Weekend. Even if your rainy I'll welcome you.

Also, I can't ignore the fact that my heart is currently breaking for the families suffering in Oklahoma. My thoughts are with you all.

We are taking him and celebrating his birthday all weekend. We are going to watch is soccer game and then we will taking him to an indoor inflatable park and to his favorite place to eat.

CRAPPIES

- American Idol. I used to love the finale show but last night it was just mediocre. Honestly I was kinda bored. Plus, Angie was really better than everyone else.

It's OK

It's Ok link up has be a staple around here on Thursdays but it's time is up at the end of the month. I'm gonna get my oks in while I can.

What are you OK with these days?

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK:

- To go shopping on a Friday night at NY and Co. and loving the stuff so much I went back on Saturday.

- To be feel a little bitchy some times!

- That I've tried to make up every excuse on why I do NOT want to see Star Trek with my husband. He's not buying any of them.

- To create a "Shit We Need to Do List" around our house. To harsh?!? We have so much that needs to be done its crazy. It's hanging on my fridge. I have to stay accountable and seeing it everyday will help with that. Hopefully it gets Brian's ass in gear too. I just want our house to get in order.

- To be super excited that our pool is opening up next week. I do use it often but I love it early Saturday mornings. Can't wait. Plus, it means the summer is almost here!!!

- To be overly excited that my NY Rangers have made the second round of the playoffs. Bring it on Boston.

Happy Thursday!

Just Because- I'm in a Blog Rut

I'm in such a blog rut lately. Some one help me I want out and I just don't know how to get there. I have so much I want to blog about; some things I can't talk about here. I think that may be clouding my brain and I can't think of anything else I'd rather share. The other problem is I can't seem to get out of my brain and down to my finger tips. I feel so lame.

The main contributor is I'm feeling pretty burnt out. Job stress just sucks all the creativity outta me. Yesterday after a call from my boss and a minor screw up by my staff I was reduced to tears before 8am. I don't even get in till 10! The stress is constant no matter how I tell myself to not let it get to me.

I'm sure the stress contributes to my lack of creativity but it's also made me tired. I'm exhausted. When I'm not working my 2 jobs I just want to chill out and try not to use my brain to much. Don't get me wrong I have a wonderful life. I do wonderful things with my husband and my friends. I just can't find that drive to blog about it.

So, with that being said. How do you find your creativity when you find you have lost it? Do things like blog ruts get you down or do you ignore them until you find that spark of creativity again?

- This week flew by surprisingly quickly!

- Getting to spend a lot more time with my best friend now that she is officially on maternity. Her little munchkin arrives in a couple of weeks. Last weekend we spent hanging out on her recliners watching Titanic. we felt 17 again!!!

- We finalllllly got a kitchen table. Now I can't' wait to go out and shop for cute placemats and a table runner. Our home is finally shaping up to being a home! It only took 4 years.

- It's been a pretty good week all around.

- Spending time with mom tonight.

CRAPPIES

It's OK

Its Ok Thursdays

Since It's Ok is ending at the end of this month I'm going to enjoy these last few weeks.

Here we go, It's OK:

- To cry because our neighborhood put in a bear trap. Even though they swear he will be relocated and not killed. The trap caught his this morning and it makes me so sad.

- To really miss coffee when I don't have it.

- That this Ohio story scares the living daylights outta me. Horrible. It's worse than a horror movie.

- To be terrible at keeping secrets.

- To be so tired I've been asleep by 9pm every night this week.

- To be slightly whiny this week and not care a bit.

- To be completely obsessed with online garage sales. We have gotten rid of so much stuff we don't need. I love getting rid of clutter!!! Now all I have to do is quit buying new clothing and I'll be all good!

- To be super excited about hockey playoffs. Let's go RANGERS!

Oh How Pinteresting

I have to admit I have been ignoring Pinterest lately. I just haven't had time to do much social media. Going away last week was fantastic. It got me out of the routine of checking up on social media. Since we have returned home we have been doing so much around the house and getting it ready for spring and summer. When I'm not doing that I'm sleeping. To say I'm exhausted is an understatement! It's been 8:30 bed time for me lately.  This morning I woke up early so I guess it was the perfect time to pay attention to this blog again.

What has everyone been up to?

Happy 1st Anniversary to Us!

Last week my husband and I hit the road for our first anniversary trip and head straight for the beach. Now, it is still on the chilly side in New Jersey but the thought of getting away to anywhere was delightful.  We needed to break the monotony of every day and celebrate our one year anniversary.

We stayed in the adorable Evergreen Bed and Breakfast in Spring Lake. We were the only guests and had the entire place to ourselves.

Brian and I aren't the real "romance" type people. I have to admit I laugh at anything that has to do with  romance. When Brian proposed I laughed at him for a few minutes before I even said yes.

We indulged in an amazing and very fattening breakfast.
Pumpkin pancakes and crab cakes eggs benedict. I'm still having dreams about how delicious they were.

Our Anniversary dinner included watching the rain fall while eating lobsters and enjoying a summer shandy. It briefly felt like summer.

It was a wonderful time. We hope to do it again very soon!
